Presenting a Cajun Crawfish Boil by Megan Mentzer, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana! Picture this: a Southern tradition where a bubbling pot of deliciousness awaits, packed with crawfish, spuds, corn, veggies, and a heap of spices. These live crawfish will be specially flown in from Louisiana for our gathering. More than just a meal, it’s a social occasion that brings loved ones together to relish tasty dishes and each other’s company.

      • Preparation: Megan will set up a large pot filled with water and seasoning. Traditional seasoning includes ingredients like cayenne pepper, garlic, onions, bay leaves, and Cajun seasoning. The crawfish will be available to see LIVE in the box they flew in to show the quality of the out of state process.
      • Ingredients: Once the water reaches a rolling boil, the crawfish are added, followed by potatoes, corn, sausage, and any other desired ingredients. Each ingredient is added at specific intervals to ensure they’re all cooked to perfection.
      • Boiling: The ingredients simmer in the seasoned water, soaking up all the flavors and spices, for around 10-15 minutes. The crawfish turn bright red when they’re done.
      • Dumping: The  cooked boil is traditionally dumped onto a long table covered with newspaper or butcher paper, creating a rustic and communal dining experience.
      • Feasting: Diners gather around the table, often with their hands, to dig into the bounty of seafood and sides. It’s a messy affair, with juices and spices flying, but that’s all part of the fun!
      • Accompaniments: The spicy flavors will be washed down with Megan’s southern sweet tea and homemade lemonade. Traditionally, cold beer is also a popular choice! Megan’s special VooDoo Sauce will be available for your dipping pleasure as well!

    Overall, a crawfish boil is not just about the food; it’s about the entire experience of coming together with loved ones to share delicious food and create lasting memories.
