Introduction to Fermentation

Learn the basics of fermentation with Chef George! Fermentation is an age-old process for preserving and enhancing the qualities of food. In this class you will learn some of the basic techniques needed to safely apply fermentation at home as well as starting your own jar of (sauerkraut, kimchi) to take home and ferment. Join us and our microbial allies for a fun night and learn to turn cabbage into something tasty!



  • Learn basic fermentation techniques and some introductory facts about fermentation: history, uses, safety concerns, and the microbes and processes involved.
  • Hands-on demonstration class: Everyone starts with the ingredients and materials necessary to create a fermented product.
  • Learn all of the steps of creating a fermented product together and leave with a jar to ferment more and enjoy later.
  • Take home tips: information necessary for a successful process at home and what to look out for as well.
